Privacy Policy

Patio Bird Deterrent is a private, noncommercial home-automation application operated by its owner. This policy explains the limited data used by the application.

Information the application accesses

With the owner's authorization, the application accesses Google Nest device information, camera event data, and temporary live-view images needed to verify relevant patio activity. It may also process status information from local smart-home devices.

How information is used

Selected camera frames are analyzed solely to determine whether a bird, person, or dog is visible. This result decides whether a brief bird-deterrent sound should play through a local speaker. The data is not used for advertising, profiling, or surveillance of the public.

Service providers

The application uses Google services to access authorized Nest devices. Selected frames may be sent to OpenAI for image classification. These providers process information according to their respective terms and privacy policies. No information is sold.

Storage and retention

The application runs on a private local server. Retained diagnostic images and classification results are stored locally for a limited, configurable period and are automatically removed. Images that are too dark to be useful are discarded rather than retained. Access credentials are kept in private configuration and are not published on this website.

Sharing

Information is shared only with the service providers required to operate the application, such as Google and OpenAI. It is not sold, rented, or disclosed for marketing purposes.

Control and deletion

The owner can stop the application, remove locally retained data, or revoke its Google Account access at any time through Google Account security settings or the Google Device Access authorization controls.
